A quasi-legal but super cool utility has emerged which allows Pandora users to save mp3 versions of the service-recomended songs. Lifehacker explains, "You can save the currently playing track just by clicking Grab This Track, or enable "cruise control" to save all tracks automatically. Pandora's Jar can also optionally integrate with last.fm to fetch artist bios, track stats, album art, and other info. That alone makes the tool worth having. There's even an option to automatically add saved tunes to your iTunes library."
The setup is complicated (hey, nothing quasi-legal is easy) requiring the Java runtime environment and a bit of DOS command line savvy. Long time fans of Pandora have known that a little tinkering around in your temp directory could yield mp3s of the songs you hear but, Pandora's Jar automates the process, even allowing you to turn on "autopilot" and "record" every song Pandora pushes.
