Quit your job : Old Man Luedecke

Writing about The Be Good Tanyas earlier made my mind instantly go to a new favorite of mine, Old Man Luedecke. Scene and Heard says of Luedecke's latest album, Hinterland, "It's tough to release an all-banjo album. It's kind of a one-trick pony. But Luedecke does a great job of bringing his up-close vocals to the front, allowing the banjo to keep rhythm and move each song along. [He's] talented, his music fun, and his lyrics thoughtful."

Luedecke writes of himself, "
Took up the banjo as an unconquerable instrument of joy, and have been dragging it through some kind of ego muck ever since, some highs of true faith and belief in the world and possibilities of change. Many lows. Moved to the country live above a garage, seeing more in the woods all the time. Abiding love for Teresa. New wonderful humbling people everywhere. I seem to be made of more and more wonderful people and less and less of hopeful books."

There's plenty of free downloadin' going on at http://www.oldmanluedecke.ca/ and his latest album (which is a freakin' gem) can be had by emailing luedechris@hotmail.com

Take the jump to see Old Man Luedecke perform his anthem, "I Quit My Job".
