We all know that breaking a single on radio just doesn't mean what it once did. What you may not realize is why; The 12-24 age group just aren't listening to the radio the way they once did. According to the New York Times, "Listening hours have dropped almost 21 percent for 18- to 24-year-olds in the last 10 years, but they still listen for 18 hours in an average week, almost six hours more than their younger siblings. Weekly radio-listening hours have dropped 19 percent in the 12-to-17 demographic."
A study done by Edison Media Research shows that portable media, the web and social Internet sites are eating up more of the time that radio once occupied.
