Rock and Roll gets a second chance; La La buys WOXY

The rumors of WOXY's death have been greatly exaggerated. According to this thread at the WOXY forums, Bill Nguyen of LaLa ( and more famously of Seven.com ) has stepped in and made an offer to put WOXY's streaming station back together, and back on the air.

The left-hanging audience of WOXY is cheering the revival deal that may see WOXY back "on air" in coming weeks. When WOXY returns, it will be sans Barb Abney, a popular host who announced her departure for Minnesota Public Radio's "The Current" earlier this month. The WOXY staff diaspora may pose an issue for the rebuilding of the station, with many having already found other positions and still others unsure about returning to a ship that has already sunk once.

Neither Bill Nguyen of La La or Bryan Jay Miller or WOXY immediately returned a request for comment. Regardless, if this deal is everything the fans of WOXY seem to think it is, it's a victory for independent streaming radio.

Update: Bryan Jay Miller responded but wasn't able to add much, "It's not quite official yet. [...] unfortunately I can't really comment further on it."
