Recently we spoke to Gerd Leonhard of Sonific, a nifty new service that allows you to insert songs directly into your Web site or blog. When we spoke to Gerd back in August Sonific was still in closed beta, but from today the service will be open to the public to test it out.
Sonific uses flash objects called SongSpots (as above) which can be inserted into most Web pages and allow readers to stream the track on demand. Sonific presents an interesting way for Web site creators to easily insert additional content into their sites at no added cost.
At the present time the majority of the tracks on Sonific are from independent labels, but as time goes on expect to see the catalogue expanding. Labels currently onboard include Cooking Vinyl/Uploadermusic, CDBaby, Cherry Red Records, Rotator Records, Blue Flame Records, and Big Fish Media.
