As the excitement builds around Steve Jobs' keynote today at Yerba Linda (they've got it covered like your Grandma's sofa over at the Engadget), we're in anxious expectation of some new Apple goodies.A comment from Mark Nutter on the Engadget liveblog post points to what may or may not be an interesting slip, "Well, here's some interesting news. My friend just went to the apple store to get a nano re-rung and apparently right as they were re-ringing it the price rang up $50 less for the 2 gig. Thinking that was a little strange, the apple employee tried ringing up the 4 gig and saw the same price drop. Most interesting though was the fact that the 60 gig iPod was down a full $100 bucks, pretty much guaranteeing that a new high end ipod will be announced today. Exciting stuff."
Does this forecast what's to come this afternoon? Who knows. I'm still betting there's no phone, and I'll double it based on the comments of Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster. Over at iLounge Larry Angell quotes the analyst as saying, "Assuming Apple ships its iPhone early in 2007, at Macworld-07 or a special event, we expect the company will sell 8-12 million iPhones in the full calendar year".
Prove me wrong Steve.
