Scissor Sisters hit chart on downloads alone

Glam rock revival specialists
Scissor Sisters have hit #4 on the UK download chart on digital sales alone. Their single, "I Don't Feel Like Dancing" was the highest entry to the chart this week, only a few scant places shy of Justin Timberlake's SexyBack.

What the Sisters have released is quite possibly the happiest sounding song about staying in and being miserable that ever was. The follow up to their self titled 2004 release is due out soon, with this chart jumping single making the sort of high-profile entrance you'd expect from the glamourous and media savvy group.

Gnarls Barkley, the pseudonym for the colaboration of Danger Mouse and C-Lo, managed a UK #1 earlier this summer on the strength of digital sales. The Scissor Sisters' single sold over 250,000 copies via digital download in its first week of eligibility for the chart. This is a new phenomonon, but one we'll see repeated many times over in the future.
