Microsoft Zune not so spiffy say analysts

"Frankly, underwhelmed", that's what analyst Shaw Wu of American Technology Research says about his first impressions of Microsoft's Zune.

Sure, stock market analysts don't always have their finger on the pulse of the consumer but, Wu's sentiment is echoed all over the web.

Also echoing what I said when Zune was announced, the analyst went on to remark that Zune is likely to have some success against other Windows media players due to Microsoft's heavy marketing and strong brand. Cannibalizing more sales from Microsoft partners (and thus alienating them) rather than from rival Apple.

I'm all for someone to knock the chip of Apple's sholder in the player market, but I have little confidience that Microsoft will be the one to do it.
