8GB Flash Based Nano In The Works

Could an 8GB Apple Nano be in your future? Maybe. According to Digitimes, Apple has been on a flash buying spree that could see them doubling the capacity of the super-slim Nano. Our sister blog, Engadget, recently reported on a 30GB solid state hard drive, and no one can argue that flash prices have been falling at a more than reasonable pace. So, it's within the realm of possibility that Apple could be cooking up a super dense Nano.

As was written by Arstechnica, "if Apple is buying up most of the available flash memory, it's going to be fairly difficult for another company to reinvent the flash-based music player".

Cornering the market on flash at this moment could be a win for Apple, with wide spread predictions that the average price for NAND would bottom out in June. Is Apple just stocking up, or will you be able to buy a high capacity flash based player in time for Back-To-School?
