In an article from UK based The Register, market research firm XTN Data claims that AllofMP3 is beating Napster by a wide margin among UK music consumers. According to data from XTN, Apple has 44% of the UK digital music market, followed by AllofMP3 with 14% and Napster at 8%. But, according to reports this week, the questionably legal AllofMP3 may become a sticking point in negotiations to allow Russia's entrance into the WTO. With the G8 summit being hosted in Moscow in June, saber rattling about Russia's reportedly vast pirate economy may begin to take center stage.
"We want Russia in the WTO, but they must first abide by the rules and obligations," said Eric Schwartz, vice president of the International Intellectual Property Alliance, an umbrella organization that includes the Motion Picture Association of America, the Recording Industry Association of America and the Business Software Alliance.
AllofMP3, along with a reported 52 optical disc pressing facilities exporting pirated CDs and DVDs to an alleged 27 countries, may take fire from Vladimir Putin as Russia pushes hard to become one of the last major economies to join the 140 plus member WTO.

1. heh, figures...The only good site around without DRM riddled content and now it's gone. I guess that means one of two things. Back to newsgroups or buying from iTunes and ripping the DRM out of it, even though it's a pain in the ass. Oh yeah, allofmp3.com's bitrate was higher as well...
