This probably wouldn't have happened without threats from the EFF. Sony has issued a security patch for its SunComm MediaMax copy-protection that effects about 20-million CDs. Somewhat like locking the barn door after the horse has escaped, this patch will probably never come to the attention of millions of customers who will remain unaware that their computers might be compromised. Those who do know about this can also remove the MediaMax software from their computers here.
