RealNetworks
reversed a year-ago deficit and reported a profitable third quarter; not profitable enough, however, to satisfy
expectations. RNWK stock dove 4.35 percent in after-hours today. Net income was $11.2 million, on revenue of $82.2
million. Real is forecasting a similar fourth quarter, which is too soon to show any impact from the recent
partnership with Microsoft.
Real's music revenue breaks out at $25 million, with 1.15-million 1.3-million subscribers to Rhapsody and other
premium subscription plans. No numbers are available for Rhapsody by itself. Real's music services have grown in
revenue and subscribers for nine consecutive quarters.
