Digital Sales Triple; Physical Sales Hold Nearly Steady

In the first half of 2005, global CD sales dropped 1.9 percent from the same period in 2004, from $13.4 USD to $13.2 USD. Meanwhile, online sales tripled to $790M USD, representing about six percent of business. In the IFPI press release, there is no breakout of subscription sales from track and album downloasds, or even an indication that subscription revenue is tallied in the figures.
