Thanks to reader Marc for tipping me to the full online release (via Bit Torrent and direct download) of Harvey Danger's new 10-song CD. The tracks unpack from the zip file with graphics, and encoding seems to be variable bitrate centering around 160k. More than the music, the band's statement of intent hits a sweet spot of reasonableness and lack of self-righteousness. "We embark on this experiment with both enthusiasm and curiosity—and, ok, maybe a twinge of anxiety. Why are we doing this? The short answer is simply that we want a lot of people to hear the record." Wanting to be heard. Refusing to impose friction in a frictionless world. The indie ethos; rock on. Here's the download page.

1. I just contributed 2 bucks to the band without even hearing the record. It's about time someone just went ahead and DID this. I'm so proud of them.
