Apple opened its Japanese iTMS outlet in Sony's backyard five weeks ago, and Sony refused to license its catalog. I said at the time (along with nearly everyone else) that Sony was idiotic to indulge in petulant withholding of content, and now Sony appears to be crumbling. Reportedly in talsk with Apple over some joint downloading venture, which would be utterly uncharacteristic of Apple and seems wildly unlikely, Sony is probably merely in belated licensing negotiations with iTMS Japan which has done blockbuster business.
