Set to launch on September 1, Musica360 is a niche online music store specializing in Latin. The site is up with no links. The head of this venture, Christopher English, decided against any kind of DRM, and will sell unrestricted MP3 files for 99 cents. (A subscription Weedshare option will also be available, allowing three listens before prompting a 79-cent purchase.) English is put off by the proprietary nature of available DRM solutions: Apple does not license, and Microsoft's DRM doesn't play on iPods. He is quoted in Playlist: "What we tell the artists is that if you're selling the CD, it is the same risk as selling the MP3. A person can take the CD and do what they want with it anyway, no different than an MP3."
