Apple vs. Small Web Domain Operator

Apple has landed hard on a British Webmaster who registered the U.K. version of itunes.com back in 2000. Although Apple applied to trademark "itunes" two weeks before Benjamin Cohen registered his domain, Apple's application was completely unpublicized, and Cohen claims he had no knowledge of it. Cohen's itunes.co.uk directed to a venture called QuickQuid, which is a cashback shopping portal. Cohen calls Apple's accusations of cybersquatting ridiculous and impossible. Apple introduced iTunes in 2001.

"I'm not a Mac user," Cohen told MacCentral. "In fact, I didn't realize Apple had a service called iTunes until October of this year, when they started to make a big push with it here. And I can't find any reference to it online prior to 2001."
