At this summer's Plug.IN conference in New York, Todd Schrader of Sony's Walkman division darkly asserted that Sony would never support MP3 in its portables, unfathomably stupid though that position was. Now, reportedly, Sony is buckling under the pressure of an MP3 world, and will start adding MP3 support to its new flash players, and even retrofitting older portables with MP3 capability. Apparetly old dinosaurs can learn new tricks.
