Remarkably, Apple has started an affiliate program for the iTunes Music Store. Why remarkable? Because the iTMS operates through a desktop client, not through a Web site. So affiliate links are coded in a manner that opens the visitor's copy of iTunes—if the visitor, in fact, has iTunes on the computer. It's all a bit confucing, and not outside of Apple's typical realm of arrogance to assume that everyone has iTunes. Anyway, the commission is five percent. And—get this—sites with fewer than 1,000 unique visitors per month are ineligible. Brother! And I thought affiliate marketing was for everyone.

1. I do a lot of affiliate marketing and I personally would not touch this program. With only 5% on the table and only being able to market to people with iTunes, this is really limited. There are much better things to market that are bigger and less complicated.
