Arrested Development Alert |
A new step forward in the criminalization of music consumers has been taken by biometric company Veritouch. Its wireless media player, the iVue, locks down music tracks with the fingerprint scan of the device's owner. Sound Orwellian? Veritouch demonstrated the device to the RIAA and MPAA recently. Assuming the device made it to market, and assuming it were paired with a corresponding online service selling tracks that supported fingerprint DRM, what incentive could possibly be offered to induce people to buy music in this fashion?

1. Sorry that our technology breakthrough has been so widely misunderstood.
No one uses a computer without a password.
No one keeps a diary or journal with personal secrets without a lock and key.
No one expects major studios to release first-run premiere content to customers electronically until a secure distribution system is in place.
The iVue does all of the above, and is a cool little device.
It does a lot more than the iPOD, and allows you to get all your content downloads wirelessly.
