In a dual news day, Loudeye announced a deal with India's largest music company, Saregama, covering the global, digital distribution of the Saregama music catalog.
Saregama, part of the RPG enterprises and an erstwhile licensee of the HMV brand name in India, owns content in every major Indian language across all Indian musical repertoires. Saregama's music ranges from the best of Bollywood to the finest in Indian classical artists like Ravi Shankar and Zakir Hussain.
This is a winning idea folks. I would expect more deals like this coming soon… licensing global music into music services.
